1 there is to such as divers Ascend: little by little and with cuidadín

If there is a concept that you have to understand when you think in positioning your website or your blog is the long tail SEO ("long tail").

This concept refers to where a more generic searches (fewer words), more times is looking, but also much greater competition.

It is very typical in the beginner bloggers to get into niches with excessive competition (niches where there are already many websites with authority well positioned), a very bad idea for a site that still has no authority on the Internet.

If you create a blog and try to position yourself for keywords so generic as, for example, "fashion" or "fashion summer" take it clear because in niches so the competition is brutal, input, you have nothing to do. Not going to position on the first page of search results which is where you want to be (clicks that receive the others are negligible), nobody will click on your links and, therefore, they will not receive links and not you progress in authority in your niche.

This can be seen very well with the free Keyword Tool from Google AdWords tool. For any combination of key words will tell you how many monthly searches are and what level of competition are (web sites that want to position these words).

The niches reasonable to begin to position a blog move in situations of low competition and a range between a few hundred and a few thousand searches per month. For a blog that begins, the most appropriate tend to be three or four keyword searches.

In other words, in this case less is more. The more specific are the key words used, become less searches, but more (in fact, many more...) chances do you have to position yourself on the first page of results on Google (which is the only thing that is really worth).

This is also known as take advantage of the "long tail" (long tail in English) and the idea is to begin to position itself in low competition niche which will allow you, as you go position more forcefully (acquire more authority), you will have more strength to compete in less specialized related niches.

I.e. If you start competing for keywords like "get followers fast Twitter", "get more Twitter followers" or "get quality Twitter followers" a little bit will go gaining more strength to compete in a niche with greater competition getting "Twitter followers" and so on.

2 write the title first and then the rest

This point is closely related to the previous one.

Many people make, in my opinion, the mistake of first write the post and then search for a title, and also devote the title 30 seconds when the post 4 hours or longer have pulled. All this when it is known that precisely the title will be the key factor for you read or not.

It is logical that you do it backward, you have clear of what you want to write, and within this, specific topics like to touch. You will leave a post better, because you will keep better focus on the issues that you have defined from the title, something that the reader will appreciate.

Incidentally, do the exercise of identifying lines of content with the keywords appropriate will make much easier and natural to incorporate them in the writing of the post with which automatically you will be a SEO working better.

3. don't think like you, learn to think like your readers

It is very typical in beginner bloggers who are unable to get in the skin of their readers, think like them at first. One of the clearest examples is how to project how to search by your potential readers.

Already happened to me more than once the same anecdote: the illusion that gets a brand new blogger when seen for the first time in Google results.

It brings you all happy saying "good, I already in Google!", you ask "with what search?" and you respond with something like "The Malasaña restaurants that I most like to go out to dinner"...

Always I find it a little crush this illusion that as well know when to start with this, but we should have these clear themes as soon as possible. So always ask "But soul of pitcher, do many people think that it will do just that pursuit...?" and"on the network, how many posts do there are having exactly that title?"

When I explain that we would be good if Google were not the only post in the world with exactly that title and that any user will search this title in particular, but something like "going out for dinner in Malasaña" starts les to change the face of...

This is a typical error that occurs also in many other fields and is that our desired confuse with reality.

Something similar happens with people that mounted a shop something that excites them without doing a market study to be sure if there really is a demand for its offer, convinced that I like that they will be a success Yes or Yes, until the harsh reality makes them fall of the cherry-tree, most of the time accompanied by a true economic and personal drama.

It is normal because it is human, but learn to soon overcome this innate tendency we have to think in this way. Don't fall into that error, it will much slowing the progression of your blog, you can that even to the point that never comes off.

Once you know the niche or niches in which want you to position, he studied how to search people in that niche. A very affordable way and practical is talk with people who match the profile of reader that you go and ask openly what searches would do to find specific information (that your offer in your blog).

It is also very interesting to tangle with tools like the free Google AdWords keywords tool since you can then "pivot" around keywords. I.e., if you put a keyword like "fashion", you will see which combinations of words containing this people do in their searches. A great source of ideas.

Something similar happens with Google Instant: If you type "fashion" a space in Google, the search engine you will be suggesting more frequent lookups that are made with the word "fashion". An excellent track to detect interesting keywords for your topic.

And another thing: don't be fooled either by the "aesthetics" of the language. I.e. "affordable kids fashion" sounds better than "cheap kids fashion", but is the second search that is made with a lot more frequency, therefore is this which interests you, it sounds more "crappy".

4. do not you load your web positioning with duplicate content

One of the steps that Google has implemented in recent years to detect "fraudulent" sites and low-quality is the detection of duplicate content. Therefore, be careful with copy content from other sites. Aside from being unethical, seen how Google now, it usually doesn't make much sense because mortgages already positioning that content (and your blog) for life.

The really bad thing of this is that Google is sometimes wrong, as in this case, where a well known site has copied us a post (of course, without asking for permission), and those who have suffered the penalty have been us.

Try search, for example, with "get Twitter followers" and look where it appears the copy and look to see if you can find in the original post (you will find other posts of this blog, but not the original post of the copy, at least not in the first 5 pages of results...).

If you want to not pass you this, a highly recommended countermeasure is to use Google + to share your contents immediately after its publication. So not only you difundirás your content for this channel, but that you also make sure Google to index them as soon as possible (in the previous example we did not and you've seen the result...).

A final recommendation: If you want to check which sites you copied, comes in handy tool Copyscape. In this tool you can enter a URL and it will locate you sites that contain whole or partial copies of the contents of this URL.

5. the traffic that really matters is the appellant

And finally, one last tip: don't you obsessions with traffic and, therefore, with the effort that you spend to SEO. Google is each smarter which makes more and more the best SEO are good content written with naturalness and a good dose of common sense.

But, in addition, what interested the blogger is not normally the raw traffic but the quality traffic that is recurrent traffic. You've read the famous phrase that "you are looking for is not traffic, but readers". This is what is meant.

There are exceptions (like the very income-oriented advertising blogs/websites) but usually recurrent traffic is practically the only you're interested because it is made up of people who really value your content and show some confidence in you.

It is those people that really interests you because they will return to read again and again, regardless of the inventions of Google and are those readers who can even become customers yours if you are considering a professional activity related to the topics of the blog because it is people that already you have established a certain relationship of trust that is the most important basis for any type of sale.

The traffic that you get from Google, normally, the vast majority of people are ephemeral readers. They come once, if you're lucky, not bounce off and take a look at a post, but you do not read never more because your niche is not at the core of their interests. To give you an idea, in the case of this blog, for example, recurrent traffic is stable around 25% more or less.

Moreover, it may be the case that thanks to an excellent SEO job, gross traffic grow month after month, but recurrent traffic go slowly decreasing. If you stay on the surface you can think you're going well when you really go very badly. Perhaps you've dedicated too much time SEO and yet, neglected more and more content.

Big mistake.
